1957 Acquired by Paterson Engineering Co., a subsidiary of Portals.[2]

1963 Business continued to expand with new Zimmite process[3]

1966 Bernard G. Houseman retired as chairman and managing director of the company after 44 years service. He was appointed president of the firm and was succeeded as chairman bu Mr John V. Sheffield, deputy chairman of Portals Holdings Ltd. of which group, Houseman and Thompson Ltd was a member. Mr Houseman was succeeded as managing director by Dr E. Leslie Streatfield, previously deputy managing director.[5]
