1897 The company was incorporated to take over and extend the properties of the Coventry Electric Tramways Ltd, which was registered in 1893.

The local authorities under the Act of 1903 have the right to purchase the undertaking after 1910, or after the expiration of every seven years from that date on basis of its value as a going concern. [2]
