- With Llewellyn and James for 26 years — during past 10 years, specialised in design of heavy plant for dairy industry, chiefly Vacuum Boiling Pans, Sterilizing Plant, etc.

THOMAS WILLIAM COOPER maintained a close connection with engineering in the Bristol district throughout his professional career. After receiving his technical education at the Merchant Venturers' Technical College, he served his apprenticeship with Messrs. G. Adlam and Sons, general and brewers' engineers, of Bristol, from 1895 to 1902.
He was employed in Messrs. W. D. and H. O. Wills's engineering department until 1910 when he returned to Messrs. Adlam as deputy shop foreman for a period of two years. In 1912 he joined the firm of Messrs. Llewellins and James, Ltd., brewers' engineers and brassfounders, and was appointed outdoor foreman erector, a position which he held till 1920 when he became the firm's advisory and representative engineer. He had completed thirty years' service with that company up to the time of his death, which occurred on 28th June 1942, in his sixty-second year.
Mr. Cooper was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1925.
