1791 Born in London, son of John Spottiswoode and his wife Margaret Penelope[1] (nee Strahan)
1819 Andrew and Robert (nephews of Andrew Strahan) took on the printing business of Andrew Strahan, which later became Spottiswoode and Co
1831 Inherited Andrew Strahan's patent as king’s printer and his share in the stock and materials of that business.
1832 Died suddenly, aged 40, at Carlisle in September 1832. Left £5,000 to his brother Andrew, who remained in sole charge of the private firm of Spottiswoode and Co for the next 16 years, as well as continuing to operate as king’s printer with Eyre and Spottiswoode.
