George Charlton Merrick ( -1913). Early aviator.
1913 3rd October. Died at Upavon in a Short biplane (70 hp Gnome engine). As a pilot he was inexperienced and was making a steep gliding descent when he slipped from his seat as he was not wearing a belt and fell on to the control column causing the machine to turn over and he fell out and was killed.
