The gas works were based at Bittacy Hill, Mill Hill.
1862 – Formed as a non-statutory company. [1]
1871 – Became statutory by Parliamentary Order. The gas works were based at Bittacy Hill, Mill Hill.
1895 – An additional Parliamentary act granted the company further powers.
1937 – Came under the control of the South Eastern Gas Company. [2]
1949 – It was nationalised (under Gas Act 1948) and vested in the North Thames Gas Board.[3]
At this time it served 11 square miles including Finchley, Hendon, Mill Hill and parts of Golders Green and 33,500 customers. [4]
