"IT is with regret that we have to announce the death of Mr. George Henry Alexander, who founded the firm of George H. Alexander Machinery, Ltd., in Birmingham, some sixty-five years ago.
Mr. Alexander was born on April 22, 1866, in the Isle of Wight, where he received his early education before moving to Birmingham at the age of fifteen years. His first engineering experience came later with the Bournes organisation in Birmingham, and subsequently with a number of other firms, before he joined the Goodyear Company of America in connection with a special patent mission concerned with pneumatic tyres.
