Royal Defiance were motorcycles produced from 1901 to 1904 by a family called Williams, at works established in 1880 in the Clanamman Valley, southwest Wales.
The first motorcycle was produced in 1901, and had a Belgian FN engine installed in a cycle frame with braced forks.
Following on came machines with 2hp, 2.25hp or 3.5hp Minerva engines. Because the works were so far away from a recognised industrial centre, the motorcycles would have been very primitive in design and construction.
