Both of the main constituent companies made electric motors in a range of sizes:
1960 AEI reorganized its 3 operating businesses into product divisions, one of which was the Motor and Control Gear Division[1] which was part of the Industrial Products Group.
1967 GEC acquired AEI. Small motors had been produced at factories in Coventry, Blackheath/Birmingham, Newcastle under Lyme and Thorne/Doncaster. These were taken into GEC Light Industrial Products where they were associated with the Woods fan business[2]
1968 The acquisition of Keith Blackman was expected to strengthen the Light Industrial Products group's fan activities.
