"FRANK WILSON SUFFIELD retained a close connection with the Birmingham district throughout his career. He served a three years pupilage under the late Mr. C. A. Smith, Birmingham, on the conclusion of which, in 1892, he was for a brief period in the drawing office of the Star Tube Company, Ltd.
From 1892 to 1896 he was first an improver in the works of Messrs. S. Fisher and Company, Ltd., makers of sugar refinery machinery, and later was employed by them as a fitter. He then joined Messrs. Thomas Piggott, and Company, Ltd., gas and general engineers, for whom he was engaged as assistant draughtsman in the estimating department.
