1817 The company built its works in Shadwell at Sun Tavern fields.
By 1820 The company was in operation, supplying light in London; its shares were advertised for sale[1]
1823 The Ratcliff Gas Co began business in Wapping[2]. The Ratcliff Gas Light and Coke Company was incorporated by Act of Parliament.
1836 Acquired the works of its opponents, the East London Gas Co of Lower Shadwell[3]
1836 Supplied the gas for Charles Green's balloon which was launched at Vauxhall[4].
1837 The works site was dissected by a railway lin; the southern part of the site continued as a holder station while the manufacturing operation was transferred to Wapping.
1855 The company was consolidated and amended.
1862 Gasworks near the Wapping end of the Thames Tunnel[5]
1873 One of 9 companies supplying gas to the London metropolis[6]
1875 the Ratcliff Gas Company was amalgamated with the Commercial Gas Co.
