Ailsa were based in Irvine near the island of Ailsa Craig.
- 1967 the company was set up to import Volvo trucks into the UK.
- 1971 the Ailsa bus company was started. It firstly imported B58 coach chassis into the UK.
- 1980 the MARK III was launched the Volvo rear axle was substituted.
- They were a major supplier to Scottish Bus Group.
- The last model that Ailsa produced was the Citybus.
- 1983 the Citybus was sold as a Volvo.
- 1985 Ailsa production stopped.
