1899 November 22nd - Wednesday.[1]
Great interest was taken in the motor racing at the Crystal Palace yesterday, and when the five miles race was started the visitors to the National Show were in full force round the cycle track. No doubt the rivalry amongst the many exhibitors was the cause of the big attendance, and, as some special prizes were offered, the entrants to the two events were the first-class motorists.
In both events C. G. Wridgway arriving first on an Ariel motor tricycle, Wridgway’s time in the ten miles handicap being returned as a record ride.
Mr. F. W. Baily officiated as judge and timekeeper, and a number of well-known cyclists acted as lap scorers.
