1939 April. 'DEATH OF MR. THOMAS MILLARD. Made Guernsey His Home. On Saturday the death took place of Mr. Thomas Millard, who will remembered in Trowbridge having been the proprietor of a cycle business in Fore Street (afterwards the premises of King’s Varieties and now of Messrs. Shipp and Mr. Penty), as maker of Pacer cycles, and as the introducer of the first motor vehicle to the town, a tricycle. Later he became agent for Oldsmobile Cars. Many years ago removed to Guernsey, where, in the capital town of St. Peter Port, he founded a flourishing motor business. Mr. Millard took a great interest in the Island’s Civic affairs, and became a Deputy of the People in the local States, or Parliament. He was also interested in religious matters, and especially the Oxford Group Movement.
