Charles Richard Collier (1885-1954), motorcycle pioneer, of Matchless
1885[1] Born Plumstead, son of Henry Collier and his wife Louisa[2]
1899 With his brother Harry, built the first Matchless motorcycle[3]
1906 October 10th. Sets new motorcycle records at Canning Town track.[4]
1907. Set motorcycle record of 51 miles 540 yards in one hour beating the previous record set by H. V. Colver.[5]
1907 First place in the Isle of Man TT race (single cylinder class) on a Matchless
1908 Second place in the Isle of Man TT Race (single-cylinder class) on a Matchless
1910 First place in the Isle of Man TT race (open-class) on a Matchless
1928 Joint managing director of Matchless Motor Cycles (Colliers) Ltd on incorporation as a public company[6]
1954 Died in Woolwich[7]
