Henry J. Hendey (1844-1906)
1844 Born in London, 29 December.
1848 or 1858 Emigrated with his parents to the USA, settling at Waterbury, Connecticut. There, Henry learned the trade of a machinist.
1865 Moved to Wolcottville, now Torrington, Conn., where Henry became a journeyman toolmaker.
His younger brother Arthur, a patternmaker, joined him to start a machine shop business, initially renting space in the machine shop of Turner, Seymour and Judd. In 1871 they acquired their own premises, and eventually expanded, as the Hendey Machine Co, to become one of the foremost American machine tool makers. For much more, see [1]
