1915 Founded as Dartmouth Auto Castings of Smethwick
1936 Birmid Industries founded; incorporated Dartmouth Auto Castings.[1].
1963 Motor Show exhibitor. Repetition iron castings.[2]
Early 1980s Demand for castings from the motor industry fell by over 20%, for trucks by 35% and for tractors by 25%. Finiancial losses were paralleled by closures and job losses. Some £12 million of the £15 million cost of closures was suffered at Smethwick, where three foundries were closed leaving only Dartmouth Auto Castings foundry No 3.[3]
1982 SG iron crankshafts were specific product ranges.[4]
