Founded by Percy Lander who opened small bakery opposite the Black Bull on Woodhouse Road, near to the bottom of Yorke Street.
1930s Moved his bakery to Oxford Street where both his daughters worked - Kathleen in the offices and Thelma in the bakery.
1949 On the death of the founder, the business was sold to W. J. Brookes and Sons of Skerton Road, Manchester for the sum of £75,000. W. J. Brookes and Sons were in turn taken over by Joseph Rank in 1955.
1966 Lander's had grown from its original 8 rounds of 1949 to 47 wholesale rounds...close to 100 Bakers Boy and Agents vans...plus 18 Cornish Pasties vans.
1981 Business closed.
