1922 Crosses and Winkworth formed a new company Crosses and Heatons' Associated Mills to acquire the following mills:[1]

- North End Spinning Co
- John Thomasson and Son
- Merton Mill, Bolton
- Victoria Mill, Bolton
- Atlantic Doubling Mill (Duncan Doubling Co), Ashton-under-Lyne.
1923 Acquired John Bright and Brothers.[2]
1945 Acquired T. M. Hesketh and Sons.[3]
1946 Acquired Whitworth Doubling Co.[4]
1961 The company comprised the following companies:
- Crosses and Winkworth
- Duncan Doubling Co.
- William Heaton and Sons.
