1901 Founded as the Mica Insulator Co. by twin brothers Arthur Berkeley and Edward Berkeley.

1906 Name changed to the Micanite and Insulators Co.

1947 Maker of high voltage insulating materials and components.

1956 Associated Insulation Products held a majority stake in the company; minority stakes were held by AEI and English Electric Co[2]

1956 Associated Insulation Products was acquired by Elliott Brothers

1958 AEI acquired Associated Insulation Products from Elliott Automation, giving AEI control of one of its principal suppliers of materials. AIP held 54 percent of Micanite and Insulators, supplier of heavy insulation equipment; English Electric Co held 7 percent of the equity and AEI held 39 percent[3]

1961 Electrical insulation engineers and manufacturers, producing mica, micanite, silicone insulation, empire varnished insulation, high voltage bushings and insulators. 1,600 employees.[4]

1967 Production moved to Trafford Park, Manchester.

1969 Became Micanite and Insulators, part of GEC Power Engineering
