1825 Listed as a lathe and tool maker, Bateman's Buildings, Deansgate, Manchester. Home address 7 Back Brewery Street, Strangeways, Salford. However, in the directory's Appendix the businees address was given as 'Bottom of Deansgate' (possibly the same as Bateman's Buildings), while his home address was Byrom Street.[1]
