Established in 1808 by Thomas Kaye. (The "Liverpool Courier," as a weekly, was first published in 1808.)
Incorporated as a Limited Company in 1904. Directors: Sir John A. Willox, (Chairman and Managing Director), R. Haddon, W. F. Machray (Manager).
1914 Present Directors: Sir Robert A. Hampson (Chairman), F. M. Radcliffe, and AV. J. Elliott. A. Burchill (Managing Editor), A. Hiatt (Secretary). Branches: London (Fleet Street), Wigan, Southport, St. Helens, Birkenhead, Seacombe, Widnes, Chester, Rhyl, Llandudno, Rock Ferry, Douglas, Isle of Man, Warrington, Wrexham, Crewe. Business: Newspaper Publishers; Printers to the University Press, Liverpool, and to the Corporation of Liverpool. Proprietors of the "Liverpool Courier" (Conservative); a weekly paper until 1857; printed twice a week until 1858; and daily from 1863. Also the "Evening Express" started in 1870, the "Football Express" (published every Saturday night), and the "Weekly Courier."
