Bentley were motorcycles produced from 1904 to 1905.
Also made light cars. Used the name Fleetwood, Royal Fleetwood and Ludgate.
The firm of J. F. Bentley was based in New Bridge Street, London. It was not connected with the Bentley make of motorcar.
1900 January. Advertisement. 'B.S.A. CYCLES, 1900.— Gents Road Racing, Double Top Bar. Elswick green, gold lined. 1/2 pitch. large chain wheels. £8 15s.: approval: can be seen any time.— Bentley, 45, New Bridge-street, Ludgate-hill, London, E.C. Also Lady's Cycle. £9; approval.'[1]
1902 Listed as - Bentley, John Frederick, cycle agent, 45 New Bridge Street; 55? Aldersgate Street; and 122 Fleet Street.[2]
1904 Advertisement. Large double-fronted shop in Aldersgate Street. Bentley, 45 New Bridge Street.'[3]
1904 A forecar, constructed as a tradesman's sample, was displayed at the Stanley show. It was powered by a 3.5hp Fafnir engine but proved to be far too flimsy for the cobblestones and rough terrain of that era.[4]
1904 November. Mr. J. F. Bentley of Fleet Street, London, having a light roadster, fitted with free wheel and clincher tyres at £5 15s. [5]
1906 August. Advertisement. Rent of large eight-roomed house in St. Albans. Bentley, 45 New Bridge Street.'[6]
1906 September. Advertisement. 'Wanted. Theatrical Syndicate, with £5,000 capital for Suburban Hall'. Bentley, 45 New Bridge Street.[7]
