PETER CHARLES MIDDLETON was born on 5th July 1866 and educated at Pinner Public School. He served his apprenticeship with Mr. Adam Koerber, electrical engineer, London, from 1879 to 1886, and in the shops of the British Electrical Engineering Co from 1886 to 1891. He was then appointed manager of Messrs. Moody and Anderson, London, and in 1893 he established an electrical and general engineering company of his own.
In 1897 he became managing director of Messrs. P. C. Middleton and Company, Ltd., a post he held until 1901, when he became engineer and director of Anti-Vibrator, Ltd., electrical and general engineers.
In 1909 he was appointed managing director of Unic Motors, Ltd., and subsidiary companies, a post he held until 1928. He had become a director of the Universal Insurance Company, Ltd., in 1908, and at the time of his death on 15th July 1939 he was chairman of this company, the Chesham Finance Company, Ltd., the Vauxhall Garage, Ltd., and Messrs. Richards and Son. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1904.
