Rowland George Allanson Allanson-Winn (aka Baron Headley) (1855-1935) M. Inst.C.E.I., of Dublin
Rowland George Allanson Allanson-Winn was born in London and educated at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge University. He then entered Middle Temple, before commencing studies at King's College London. He subsequently became a civil engineer by profession, a builder of roads in India, and an authority on the protection of intertidal zones.

Twice awarded Bessemer Premium of Soc. of Engrs., London; awarded Silver Medal, Royal Scottish Soc. of Arts, 1900; Silver Medals of Inst. C.E.I., 1902 and 1903; Civil Engr. Kashmir and Ireland since 1892; Asst. Engr. to Spedding and Co.; completed the Baramula-Srinagar Road, 1896; appointed Engr. to Arklow Harbour Commissioners, 1906; Chairman of the Neale Ship Raising Assoc. Author of " Boxing," All-England Series, and many Scientific Treatises and Pamphlets. Club: Eccentric, St. James's, S.W. Address: Ivy Lodge, St. Margaret's, Twickenham.
