A generating station was built on the site by the town
1910 After the Pottery towns were federated, the the electricity supply of the towns came under common management.
1913 A new central station was built by Stoke on Trent Corporation on the site at Hanley, generating 3-phase electricity, intended to replace the single phase generating plant at Hanley and the d.c. plants at Burslem, Longton and and Stoke although these were still used at peak times.
1919 A new 3000kW turbo-generator was brought into operation at Hanley to cope with rising demand.
1922 Another 3000kW turbo-generator was installed at Hanley.
