Mr. Fowler, who was seventy-four years of age, was, right up to the time of his death, an active director of [[Hick-Diesel Oil Engines]], Ltd., of 70, Queen-street, London, E.C. 4, and was one of the pioneers of the Diesel engine in Great Britain, it being he who originally purchased the British and American Diesel engine patent lights and formed the original [[Diesel Engine Co]] in England. He was from those early days up to the time of his death actively connected with the Diesel engine, which he always considered to be the engine of the future.
