Established in 1871 by Peter Esslemont (d. 1894) and William Macintosh ( d. 1913).

Large Wholesale Department and Retail Department, equipped with up-to-date appliances. Staff: About 400. Specialities: General Drapery; the manufacture of Hosiery and Underclothing. 2006 Liquidators were appointed by the company, which by this time had changed its name to RHB Investments Limited.[3]

Records of the company were subsequently deposited in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Archives.[4]
