1817 Business established as dyers in Liverpool[1]

1898 Public company incorporated to acquire the business of dyers and cleaners of Thomas Sands Johnson (senior) and Benjamin Sands Johnson.

1921 Formation of Johnson Group through the acquisition of James Smith and Sons (Cleaners) and Flinn and Son.

1938 Acquired Associated Dyers and Cleaners[2]

1952 Public offer of shares; the business had 1,350 branches and 9 works, many of which were the result of acquisitions, making it the largest business in the sector.

1958 Became Johnson Group (Cleaners)[3]

1959 Acquired Bird Ltd

1980 Johnson Brothers (Dyers) Ltd was renamed Johnson Brothers (Cleaners) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Johnson Group Cleaners Ltd[4]
