Colonel Bertram Gale founded Gale Studios shortly after the First World War. In 1928, Bertram met Albert H. Garrett, whose company commenced constructing and manufacturing equipment and fitting out new photographic studios under the name of Jerome Ltd.
Jerome also produced roll films ('Jerome Spools') for cameras of the day, and these produced opaque paper (not transparent celluloid) negatives, which could only be printed by Jerome. This was done at Jerome Developing & Printing at Bovay Place, Holloway, London, N.7.
The business was wound up in the early 1970s.
