This 50m span steel footbridge crosses the River Avon upstream of Temple Meads Station.
Designed by Knight Architects, Jacobs (Ch2m). Fabricators: SH Structures.
Well-designed from the users' points of view, and nicely detailed.
Winner of several awards. 'A holistic architectural, functional, and structural approach resulted in a bridge that is compact and clearly legible for users while being architecturally distinctive. ..... The bridge was planned as a catalyst for urban regeneration, setting the new quality benchmark for the future development of the area ....'[1]
Unfortunately, the appearance was not so attractive in 2022, the sloping steel sides having attracted graffiti and algae.
Currently (November 2022) the path over the bridge leads nowhere.
