1891 Living at Lightpill, Rodborough, Glos.: Joseph Daniels (age 50 born Rodborough), Engine Maker, Iron Founder and Employer. With his wife Clara Ada Daniels (age 50 born Stroud) and their children; Sidney Reginald Daniels (age 17 born Rodborough), Student for Indian Civil Service; John Stuart Daniels (age 16 born Rodborough), Mechanical Draughtsman; Ada Gertrude Daniels (age 15 born Rodborough); Frederic Lionel Daniels (age 13 born Rodborough); Edith Mabel Daniels (age 9 born Rodborough); and Joseph Harold Daniels (age 8 born Rodborough).[1]

"FREDERIC LIONEL DANIELS was the managing director of Messrs. T. H. and J. Daniels, Ltd., Stroud, Gloucestershire, general engineers, and had been associated with that firm for fifty-seven years.
On the completion of his general education at Wycliffe College, Stonehouse, in 1892, he joined the business founded by his grandfather in 1840 and served a six years' apprenticeship, becoming a director in 1904. Throughout his long professional career Mr. Daniels took an active part in the experimental and development work of the business, and travelled extensively at home and abroad in the interests of the firm. He was also responsible for the installation of plant in the Cornish mines and elsewhere.
In addition to his professional duties he took a keen interest in local affairs, and especially in education, being a governor of Wycliffe College and for thirty years a governor of the Stroud secondary schools. He was also chairman of the Stroud Urban District Council and a Justice of the Peace. Mr. Daniels, whose death occurred on 10th March 1950 at the age of seventy-two, was elected a Member of the Institution in 1943, and had served as President of the Western Section of the Institution of Production Engineers."
