Daniel Climie (1814-1890)
1814 January 18th. Born at Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, the son of James Climie (1782-1871), and his wife Mary Campbell. Brother of John Campbell Climie. His father died at Gouck House, Greenock, on 27th December 1871 age 89 years.[1]
1844 November 5th. Married at Clyst Honiton, Devon, to Jane Esther Austin
1851 Living at Meole Road, Shrewsbury: Daniel Climie (age 36 born Scotland), Civil Engineer and Proprietor of a Brick and Tile Works employing 17 men. With his wife Jane Climie (age 29 born Devon) and two children.[2]
1855 Mention of a small contract by Daniel Climie at Shrewsbury.[3]
1858 Mentioned as 'Daniel Climie, the eminent architect of Shrewsbury' who built the principle stations of the Whitchurch and Crewe line extension.[4]
1861 Living at Meole Road, Shrewsbury: Daniel Climie (age 45 born Scotland), Railway Contractor. With his wife Jane Climie (age 34 age 34 born Exeter) and their seven children.
1864 Daniel Climie of Shrewsbury takes contract to complete Hastings Harbour.[5]

1890 September 29th. Died at Taranaki, New Zealand. Daniel Climie C.E. late of Melbourne.[12] Well-known in connection with the Wellington drainage system and the first survey of the Wellington-Manawatu railway.[13]
