Eng. Lieut.-Comm. WILLIAM HENRY REYNOLDS, R.D., R.N.R., ret., was Joint Honorary Secretary of the South Wales Branch of the Institution from its inception in 1921 until the end of 1927 and held the office of Chairman in 1925. He had been a Member of the Institution since 1915.
Commander Reynolds had for twenty-one years represented Messrs. Babcock and Wilcox as managing engineer for South Wales and the West of England.
The son of an army officer, he was born at Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare, in 1872. He served a seven years' apprenticeship in mechanical and marine engineering at Belfast and subsequently gained experience at sea with the P. and 0. Steam Navigation Company, and the Ocean Steamship Company.
He joined Messrs. Babcock and Wilcox at their Manchester office in October 1906, and in 1909 was appointed to the Cardiff managership.
He retired from the Royal Naval Reserve in 1922 with the rank of engineer-lieutenant-commander, and died on 5th September 1930.
