Muslin Manufacturers
Established in 1876 by William Strang (d.). Joined by his sons, when the style was altered to above.
1914 Present Principals: William Strang, James Strang, Robert W. Strang, and John N. Strang. The family have been Muslin Manufacturers since the beginning of last century. Premises: Equipped with modern appliances, containing 700 looms. Staff: 700. Specialities: Fancy Muslins for Draperies and Dress Goods. Patent and Invention: The first Power Loom to weave " Leno Harness," now known as " Madras " Muslin (Inventor and Patentee, William Strang, founder).
1936 William Strang and Son Limited was incorporated as a private company, with capital of £50,000, to carry on the businesses of muslin manufacturers, weavers, combers, and spinners.[1]
1959 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[2]
