1878 Destructive fire at their mill at Watergate. Cost of damage £50-60,0000.
The mill was powered by a 50 HP beam engine by Martin and Smithers of Guide bridge. [1]

Note 'Martin and Smithers' was probably Martin and Smethurst.

Ravensthorpe mill was powered by a Pollit and Wigzell engine.
