1841 Advert: 'TO BE LET, with immediate possession, HEYROD MILLS, advantageously situated on the banks of the River Tame, Huddersfield Canal, and the new turnpike road leading to Saddleworth, one mile from the populous town Stalybridge, and eight from Manchester. These mills are worked by a very powerful iron water wheel, made, at great expense, a few years since, by Messrs. [[Fairbairn and Lillie]], with an auxiliary steam-engine by Messrs.
