1824 Society established, an early trades union which provided mutual benefits for its members such as pensions and unemployment benefits.
1894 At one of its 70th anniversary meetings, James Swift, general secretary, gave an overview of the early history of the society. The meeting was also addressed by Sir William H. Bailey.[1]
1904 William F. Blinkhorn took over as general secretary pro tem after the sudden death of James Swift.
1918 Amalgamated with the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers
