of Glasgow, whisky blenders and merchants, proprietors of the Glencadam Distillery, Brechin
1825 This is the date of establishment given by the company itself. In reality, it is probably based on the date that the Glencadam Distillery was established, though Glencadam was not acquired by Gilmour Thomson until 1891.[1]
1893 A. G. Thomson and Company Limited, of 136 West Regent Street, Glasgow, was incorporated with capital of £50,000 to acquire and carry on the business of that name, distillers and wholesale and export whisky merchants, Glasgow, London and elsewhere.[2]
1902 The company name was changed to Gilmour Thomson and Company Limited.[3]
1910 C. H. Curtis and Co was amalgamated with Gilmour Thomson and Co
1924 In April the company went into voluntary liquidation.[4] The company's whisky stocks were sold to Robert Brown (Glasgow) in a deal involving nearly three-quarters of a million gallons though the price was not disclosed.[5] A new company of the same name, wholesale and export whisky merchants, at 46 James Watt Street, Glasgow, was incorporated with capital of £30,000.[6]
c.1947 The issued share capital of the business was acquired by Distillers Co which carried on the business[7]
1960 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[8]
