Mr. Towle was educated at Derby Grammar School and University College, Nottingham. He graduated B.Sc. (Eng.) (Hons.) in 1932, and gained his M.Sc. (Eng.) degree in 1935. Mr. Towle was educated at Derby Grammar School and University College, Nottingham. He graduated B.Sc. (Eng.) (Hons.) in 1932, and gained his M.Sc. (Eng.) degree in 1935. After experience in the drawing and stress office of Aiton and Company, Limited, he joined the experimental department of Rolls-Royce Limited, and was engaged on ignition development.
