Motor Hauliers
1905 'Mr. German commenced his road haulage business at Christow - this, of course, was in the time of steam-driven lorries. In 1915, the business was transferred to Exeter, where he continued until the firm of G. H. German and Co. Ltd. was formed, of which Mr. German became the chief director. He maintained an active interest in the firm, whose green lorries were well known in and about Exeter, up to April, 1949, when road transport was nationalised.'[1]
