Established in 1897. Formed to acquire the old-established business of Paterson, Laing & Bruce. One of the best known firms in the Australian Colonies. The business of Lark, Sons & Co., Ltd., of Sydney, and R. Lewis & Sons, of Hobart, being subsequently added, it was re-formed in 1901, as Paterson Laing & Bruce (1901), Ltd., with additional capital. Directors: In Melbourne—Ernest Bruce (Managing Director), Edwin P. Truman, John Cupples (Local); In Sydney—Alexander B. Templeman, W. H. Thompson (Local); In London—Stanley M.
