1963 Beauford Engineers Ltd was incorporated by Joseph Beaumont and Geoffrey Crawford
1970 Investment by Charterhouse Finance enabled purchase of a factory at Cleckheaton, near to the main works at Elland; the company's business was manufacture and refurbishment of rolling mill equipment; G. Crawford (Cleckheaton) was a subsidiary.[1]
1972 Name changed to Beauford Group Ltd
1975 Reported reduced profits due to the 3-day week; engineering division had received capital investment to enable it to take on larger contracts; the machine tool division had expanded rapidly over the previous 3 years.[2]
1981 US operations were loss making and were discontinued[3]
1982 re-registered as a public limited company
By 1986 the holding company was Beauford Group PLC
1989 Name changed to Beauford PLC
By 1992 Beauford Group PLC was at Olney, Bucks.
1996 Disposed of its last engineering business, Bradford Engineers, to Motherwell Bridge; re-focussing on ceramics; acquired a second ceramics business, VZS Group a management buyout from Cookson Group[4]
