1979 As part of Sainsbury's diversification into other retailing activities, the company set up the DIY chain Homebase with minority holding by GIB of Belgium[1]
By the end of 1985, there were 36 Homebase DIY stores[2]
1995 Acquired Texas Homecare which was merged with Homebase.
1996 GIB sold its share of Homebase to Sainsbury's
2020 Homebase had 164 outlets
