1988 Company incorporated, part of the UK Paper PLC Group, a subsidiary of Fletcher Challenge of New Zealand
1936 [[Bowater Paper Mills]] purchased paper mills at Sittingbourne and Kemsley, owned by [[Edward Lloyd|Lloyd Group]], which doubled the firm's output of newsprint to around 500,000 tons per annum. In little more than a decade since the start of manufacturing, Bowater was producing 60 percent of British newsprint and had become the largest newsprint undertaking in Europe.

1936 Bowater Paper Mills purchased paper mills at Sittingbourne and Kemsley, owned by Lloyd Group, which doubled the firm's output of newsprint to around 500,000 tons per annum. 1998 both the Sittingbourne and Kemsley plants were acquired by Finnish-based paper company Metsa Serla

2006 the decision was made to close the Sittingbourne Mill in October, with the last reel being produced on 23 January 2007.
