The [[Ingersoll-Rand]] company was formed June 1, 1905, under United States laws to acquire the business and properties of the Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Co, Limited  and the [[Rand Drill Co|Rand Drill Company]], manufacturing respectively the Ingersoll-Sergeant and Rand rock drill, air compressors, and kindred machinery.
