1882 Farmer, Robey, Brown and Co Limited was incorporated.[1] The company was formed, with capital of £50,000, to purchase the freehold, buildings, fixed plant, working tools, stock-in-trade, properties and business of Messrs. Farmer and Son, iron founders, of Gainsborough. The principal business of the company was to be the manufacture of portable steam engines and thrashing machines, superior vertical engines, boilers, fixed and semi-fixed hoisting and winding engines, new patent traction engines, and that of general engineers, iron founders and millwrights.[2]
