1899 Company incorporated to acquire and work the Rylands Main Colliery at Barnsley, [1]
1932 Name changed to Barrow Barnsley Main Collieries Ltd; acquired the collieries, coke ovens and by-product plant of the Barrow Haematite Steel Co Ltd at Worsborough including the Barnsley Main colliery.
1937 Public offer of preference shares.
1946 Facing nationalisation of the mines, the company was unsure what would happen to the ownership of the Coke Ovens Co (which was owned two-thirds by the company and one third by the Wombwell Co) after nationalisation of the mines.[2]
1949 After nationalisation of the mines, Barnsley District Coking Co was the subsidiary[3]
1959 Renamed Barrow Barnsley (Holdings) Ltd[4], maker of industrial and domestic coke and smokeless fuel.
