Riveted wrought iron or steel plate girders supported by cast iron trestles. Brick and stone abutments. Cheap wooden handrails.
1897 'TREWERN. STORM.— On Sunday morning a very severe storm of wind and rain broke over the district. Towards night it blew a hurricane, stacks were unroofed, and the roofs blown away, buildings were badly damaged, trees uprooted, while a large wooden bridge (the property of the L. & N. W. Railway Company) which crosses over the line near Middletown station, became a wreck.'[1]. Same bridge?
