1936 Died. 'The death has taken place in his eighty-fourth year at Boscombe, Bournemouth of Mr Henry Ashton Hill formerly a well-known engineer on Merseyside. Mr Hill served part of his apprenticeship with Messrs [[Alfred Holt and Co]] and from the age of twenty-three for seven years had charge of the Liverpool Corporation department responsible for research into analysis of gas. Afterwards for thirteen years Mr Hill was engineer and manager of the Wallasey Corporation gas water undertakings and he was responsible for the construction there of a pumping station and a 2,000,000 gallon reservoir and the laying out of the present gas works. Then he served for twenty-three as engineer-in-chief of the [[South Staffordshire Water Co|South Staffordshire Waterworks Company]] retired in 1917 to Boscombe.
